Fuel Chaos Grips the Nation

Fuel Chaos Grips the Nation

12 March 2026 - Author Stephen Gardiner

A wave of mild hysteria swept across the region this week as towns up and down the highway reported dwindling fuel supplies. Drivers were spotted forming queues longer than a Centrelink phone wait, clutching jerry cans like they were rare artefacts from a bygone civilisation. Rumours spread faster than a harvest fire: “No fuel by lunchtime!”, “Servo’s dry!”, “Someone filled a Hilux AND a boat—selfish bugger!”

Local councils issued calm, measured statements encouraging residents to “avoid panic buying,” which of course triggered even more panic buying. One town reportedly saw a man attempt to siphon petrol from his own lawnmower “just in case.”

But in the midst of the chaos, one community remained perfectly, serenely unfazed.

Burren Junction.

While the rest of the region scrambled, Burren locals simply shrugged, sipped their coffees, and carried on with their day. When asked how they were staying so calm during the crisis, one resident replied:

“Mate… Burren Junction ran out of petrol 15 years ago.”

Kamilaroi Highway set for major rehabilitation to boost safety and resilience

Published: 3 March 2026 Released by: Minister for Roads

A vital stretch of the Kamilaroi Highway west of Burren Junction is set for significant rehabilitation, with the Minns Labor Government delivering long-term improvements to one of north-west NSW’s most important road corridors. From Tuesday, 3 March, work will begin on a full rehabilitation of a three-kilometre section between Walgett and Cryon, near the Goangra–Beanbri intersection, where the pavement has continued to deteriorate despite routine and heavy patching. Rather than temporary fixes, crews will carry out a full pavement rehabilitation to rebuild and restore the road surface, improving ride quality and strengthening the highway for the long term.

Capturing Coastal Calm: The Enduring Allure of Noosa Beach Prints

Capturing Coastal Calm: The Enduring Allure of Noosa Beach Prints

How Noosa’s coastal charm is being captured through photography and brought into homes as timeless, tranquil wall art.

For many Australians, the coastal lifestyle isn’t just a holiday memory — it’s a state of mind. Sun-drenched shores, turquoise waves, and the laid-back charm of beachside towns have long held a special place in the hearts of locals and travellers alike. Among these coastal gems, Noosa — with its iconic main beach, scenic headland walks, and crystal-clear water — stands out as one of the most photogenic destinations in the country.

It’s no surprise, then, that Noosa beach prints have become highly sought-after pieces of wall art, celebrated for their ability to bring a touch of coastal serenity into homes and workspaces. Whether you're a Sunshine Coast local or a distant admirer, there's something about Noosa’s light, landscape, and lifestyle that continues to inspire artists and photographers across generations.

In this article, we explore why Noosa remains such a powerful muse for visual storytellers, how photography can transport us back to meaningful places, and how you can incorporate beach-inspired art into your living space to capture the essence of the coast — even if you're miles away from the ocean.

Noosa: Where Nature Meets Timeless Aesthetics

Located on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, Noosa Heads is known for its pristine beaches, lush national park, and bohemian-meets-boutique culture. According to Tourism Noosa, the region attracts over 2.5 million visitors annually, with many drawn to its natural beauty and relaxed atmosphere.

From the golden sands of Main Beach to the dramatic cliffs of Hell’s Gates, every part of Noosa offers a visual feast. Early morning surfers, sunset walkers, and playful dolphins all make appearances in the perfect shot — which is precisely why photographers are consistently drawn to the area.

The unique combination of natural light, tropical vegetation, and architectural simplicity (think coastal shacks and luxury pavilions) makes Noosa not just a destination, but an aesthetic.

The Rise of Coastal Photography in Interior Design

Over the past decade, coastal-themed photography has become a staple of modern Australian interior design. Homeowners and stylists alike are gravitating towards visual elements that convey calm, openness, and connection to nature — qualities many find in beach photography.

According to Domain, “natural textures, coastal tones, and landscape prints” are among the top décor trends for 2024. Coastal prints provide a minimalist yet powerful impact in both contemporary and classic spaces.

But this trend isn’t just about aesthetics. Research published in the Journal of Environmental Psychology suggests that exposure to nature-based imagery can lower stress and increase positive emotions — making that framed beachscape more than just a pretty picture (source).

Why Noosa Beach Prints Stand Out

While there are countless coastal scenes to choose from, Noosa beach prints hold a unique place in Australian art for a few reasons:

  1. Signature Light: Noosa’s early morning and late afternoon light is legendary among photographers, casting warm, peachy tones that are both nostalgic and modern.

  2. Iconic Landmarks: Whether it’s the pandanus trees, the rock formations of Tea Tree Bay, or the sweeping views from Laguna Lookout, Noosa offers recognisable motifs that evoke familiarity and place.

  3. Balance of Wild and Refined: Noosa walks the line between untouched natural beauty and curated coastal living, allowing prints to fit a range of interior styles — from rustic beach cottages to sleek city apartments.

  4. Emotional Connection: For many Australians, Noosa is tied to memories of family holidays, surf trips, and honeymoon escapes. A well-composed photograph can trigger those emotional ties more strongly than almost any other art form.

Prints such as those featured in the Kezign noosa beach prints collection reflect this emotional and visual connection, capturing fleeting coastal moments in a timeless, high-resolution format.

From Travel Souvenir to Everyday Escape

Bringing travel photography into your home doesn’t just serve as a memory jog — it actively transforms the atmosphere of a room. Coastal prints, especially of a beloved location like Noosa, can:

  • Brighten a room through airy blues, whites, and sandy neutrals

  • Create a sense of calm with oceanic symmetry and natural landscapes

  • Serve as conversation starters, especially when you’ve been to the destination depicted

  • Support local artists and photographers, many of whom offer limited edition prints

To get the best result, consider the scale of your print (larger pieces often make a more dramatic impact), the material (canvas, framed fine art paper, acrylic), and the colour palette of your existing interior.

Tips for Styling Noosa Prints at Home

  • Anchor large prints in communal spaces: A panoramic Noosa beach shot can set the tone for your living room or entryway.

  • Group smaller prints in a gallery wall: Mix beach scenes with other Sunshine Coast elements, like native flora or surfboards.

  • Lean into natural materials: Complement prints with jute rugs, rattan furniture, and linen textiles for a cohesive coastal feel.

  • Don’t be afraid of colour: While many Noosa prints focus on soft blues and whites, dramatic sunsets and rich greens also make striking wall art.

Noosa Through the Lens: More Than Just Decor

Photography offers more than beauty — it’s a narrative device. Each image tells a story: of a moment, a place, a feeling. And in a world where we spend so much time indoors or behind screens, bringing real-world landscapes into our personal space can be both grounding and inspiring.

Beyond residential spaces, Noosa prints are now finding their way into:

  • Health and wellness clinics: To promote calm and healing

  • Corporate offices: As visual representations of lifestyle values

  • Boutique hotels and Airbnbs: To reflect location and enhance guest experience

If you’re exploring local artists, regional photography, or tips for travel-inspired décor, check out the Lifestyle section on Daily Star for more insights and inspiration.

Supporting Local Creativity

Investing in prints from local photographers doesn’t just elevate your space — it also supports small creative businesses. Many independent artists now offer:

  • Custom sizing

  • Sustainable or recycled packaging

  • Limited edition runs for collectors

  • Digital print options for overseas buyers

This trend reflects a broader move towards slow decorating — choosing fewer, more meaningful items over mass-produced art.

Final Thoughts

Whether you’re a seasoned traveller or simply dreaming of the coast, Noosa beach prints provide a window to one of Australia’s most iconic and soothing landscapes. With their blend of natural beauty, emotional resonance, and versatile style, they offer more than decoration — they offer connection.

So next time you walk into a room and feel the need for light, calm, or just a hint of salt in the air, consider what a simple photograph of Noosa might do.
